The car down low feels very very strong, I have raced on the street from a float a few 03 Cobras when I race them I tear away init and then they stop the progress at a few cars , me in front. I raced a modded Z06 (exh, headers, intake and RR) and he couldnt pass me til 120. (he runs the 1/4 in 11.86 @ 117) These races were all on the street from about a 30 float.

Why is my car down on the top end?!!!?
Are you sure that you're spinning the tires before the shifts or are you floating because the tranny won't shift? The reason I ask is because it sounds like you had a similar experience to what my son, LTLHOMER, has been experiencing for quite a while. The damn 4L60E tranny can't handle WOT shifts on a motor that makes over 300HP. He had two different 4L60E's in his 94Z and had them rebuilt as well. After hitting the rev limiter with the last one on every 2-3 shift, he took the car back to the trans shop. They checked everything out and told him to increase his line pressure. He increased his line pressure and still kept bouncing off the rev limiter.
Fed up because his tranny has kept him out of the 11's, he bought a worked TH400 w/TB for next season.

Update, I did a compression test and it was pretty even across the board the variation between cylenders was minimal. My buddy whoi is a GM mech (works at the Pontiac place on NW expressway) thinks my tranny is slipping up high, I hopped in the pass set and let him drive and when we were at the top of each gear (just over 6 grand) white smoke came barreling out of the back at the top of each gear. It was only there that the smoke was there. From the compression test we know its not from the motor so we checked the tranny fluid and it was a few pints low, looking onto the Y-pipe (hooker LTs into a Stainless Works 3 inch pipe) there was burnt fluid residue on the pipe and it appears the rear tranny seal is blowing fluid out at high rpms. We put her up on a lift and ran through the gears, we couldnt get it to blow out any fluid, so we are puzzled as of now.

Any Ideas anyone?

Putting it on a lift and running through the gears isn't the same as going through the gears with a load on it. When you were at the top of each gear, did you bounce off the rev limiter or lose power momentarily?

Those numbers are pretty good for that cam at that elevation and those weather conditions....IMO. As was mentioned, you might find a lttle more on top end by readjusting your RRs and going with a 1/8-1/4 turn past zero lash.

The rocker adjustment is already at 1/4 turn. When I had the computer tuned (via mail) I had them remove the rev limiter, I can manually take it up over 6500, but the car shift itself just over 6.

The car pulled strong all the way to the shift. I thought that without the weight of the car on the tires that the lift wouldnt be the same but I tried it anyway. The fluid is clean and smells fine, around town it shifts and drives perfect.

Having agonized with LTLHOMER over the identical problem with his 4L60Es (note..plural) in his 94 Z28, we've both come to the conclusion that they suck. At WOT, it can't handle the shift smoothly. I've heard that there are fixes for the problem, but none of them worked for LTLHOMER. He had 2 rebuilds before he finally gave up and bought a real transmission.
I also have a 94 Z28, but I have a worked TH400. Seeing mine shift hard and when we want it to led him to pick up a worked TH400 from Spraytheway on this board.
There's nothing more frustrating than bouncing off the rev limiter because your tranny won't shift while making a strong run in the 1/4 mile.

My problem with the tranny is that I need that overdrive, I do a couple of 1000 mile trips on the car a year (going to Pontiac meets here and there) so until I can afford a rig and trailer the overdrive is my real obly option.

I would honestly get a bigger cam, for what heads you have..I would also get a dyno-tune, b/c I had a pcmforless tune, and ran rich on top end....
