MPG loss with 2800 vigi? and a couple q's

Currents mods in sig, I get about 14-15mpg right now, and it sucks. But im in the need of going faster! Just a couple questions?

1. How will the vigilante 2800 affect gas milage?
2. How will it affect ETs? Mainly concerning MPH, will my MPH go up or down?
3. Does this look like the next best mod for me?
Off topic question
4. Does a stall converter lock up at WOT? When should this converter lockup at WOT? Im still very confused how a stall converter works at WOT

Thanks,
Robert

I haven't had my car at the track since installing my TCI 3000 but with a little bit of a steady foot, I was able to keep my mpg's just about the same.

Your gearing is probably killing your MPG now. 3.73s and an automatic is on the high end of livable as a daily driver IMO.

The converter will not hurt your highway mileage, because it will lock. However, the increased slippage around town is going to cost you probably another 2 mpg.

I currently get about 15mpg city 20 highway, but I have other issues going on that have yet to get fixed.

As stated, your HWY milage isnt going to be hurt, and youll most likely lose a little city.

ET wise, you arent going to gain much,if any, MPH. You will probably be amazed at your new time though, if you are going from a stock converter. I dropped .9 with the same converter. I gained a hair over 1 mph.

Lucky *****......I'm getting about 12 mpg in the city. As far as the converter goes....it's pretty much like everyone said. It will feel like you actually loose some serious bottom end because the conv't will not kick in til 2800 so it will feel like the tranny is almost slipping when you start moving.

I am using a 2800 Vig, with simple mods in sig it stalls at 3700 RPM. It locks up at about 40-45MPH and I have lost mileage, maybe 25 or so miles per tank.

I dont goto the track I cant tell you how many 10th's I shaved off, can't even tell you what my trap MPH is.

I can tell you this though, I run 2.73's traction before was easy, mash throttle as hard as you can cause there is no wheel spin. With this scientific proven launch with the 2800, I am now sideways. The minivan people after watching me do this at the 1st red light, let me have the high speed lane. Mothers hide their children, the moon stops moving,.,.etc,..,

One more, You know that dead spot around 2100 to 3100 when you nail it, and it only reves to around there. Its gone. When I need it I stomp on it and freely revs to 3700RPM+.

It is an act of god.

I dont know what the deal was with my Yank 2800 stall, but i hated my stall, knew it when i picked up my car. If you stay mostly in town, stop and go, yeah mileage will go way down since it takes more gas to get going. It would take at least a quarter tank for me to go only 10 miles to work and a couple miles was on the non stop highway. My converter at highway speed would kick out of lock-up and sound like i dropped it into a lower gear--glad i got my stock converter back--Ok,no more crying

It does that, my converter unlocks on the highway if speed dips below 50 mph. Then relocks afterward, its the way it works.

But I'm going to a non-lockup TH400, so I won't have overdrive nor lockup for the highway. Probably with 3.88 gears too.

Back on topic: Get the converter, Vig2800 will work wonders. Especially since you've got sticky tires. Just dip them down to 18 or lower psi, do a big 7 second burnout and let her rip out of the hole.

Im mainly worried about MPG, and MPH... I'll take that 2mpg loss if i gain MPH... I know a few people that regret their stalls because they lost MPH and MPG... ETs werent effected greatly
