MPG change w/ these mods?

Will porting my heads rape me at the pump? What about cams? What could I get that wouldnt change anything under normal driving conditions?

Also... what will I notice w/ each of the following?

Moroso CAI
No Cats
Hooker LTs (coated)
bigger Y pipe

Thanks.

If you can keep your foot out of it cars with cams and exhaust and ported heads can still get decent mileage but expect a couple of MPG drop. Small cams with the proper tunning can actualy increse your milage because they make the engine more efficent.

The exhaust and CAI willl increase your milage slightly, maybe 1/2 mi. to the gal.Heads and cam will decrease milage.Depending how big you go and how you drive it is impossible to say how much.

Honestly, porting the heads and intalling a new cam shouldn't change the gas mileage TOO much (maybe 3-5 mpg less), unless you're really romping on it all the time or if you have an automatic with a big stall (leaving a dead stop at 3000 rpm+ every time and shifting higher under partial throttle)

The bolt-on mods that you mentioned shouldn't affect gas mileage.

3-5 is a lot! That's at least 45 miles per tank. Can anyone that's done this confirm it?

I'm aiming for low 12s on the street while still getting 17-20mpg in the city (what I'm getting now).

These LS1 SSs sure look tempting!

with CAI, Hooker LTs, Mufflex y, B&B catback running 80 - 85 mph the whole time I got 26 mpg on the interstate and around 16 - 20 around town depending on how I drive

The cai headers and exhaust generally increase the efficiency of your motor and will give you better mileage provide youd don't get on it more.

anything exhaust related will help you... i think CAI will actually hurt mpg a little since more air needs more fuel. same applies to heads... more air in needs more fuel so youll lose some again. and yeah a cam will definitely decrease fuel economy.

Nitrous. Low 12s and you only use it when you need it. Seems to fulfill your requirement.
