Would there be any interest of a fully documented how to VIDEO of how to drop the motor out of an lt1 4th gen car without a lift? I plan on making the video and just wanted "a show of hands" on how many of you could appreciate the video since most of the text/pic writeups out there seem vague and undetailed. Post up if you like the idea...

I also plan on making a VIDEO of how to do a basic rebuild involving gaskets, bearings and piston rings as well as the cam swap and valvetrain assembly. Would anyone have a need for that? If nobody likes the ideas then I will just do the job without the video but if there is interest I'll take some extra time for the video.

 

Definately go for it. It's always much easier to see what is being done than reading it and trying to comprehend it. I'm sure it will be greatly appreciated by many (including myself when the time comes) and maybe could be stickied for easy access and less questions posted about the same stuff. Sounds like an awesome idea man, good luck!

 

Great idea. May I suggest breaking the segments up so a specific clip could be viewed vs watching the whole thing. I am exremely interested in the cam/valvetrain piece. Perhaps even a whole new area on the site for "how to video clips"?

Hey guys here is a demo clip to let you know how it will look on most steps. Keep in mind that video/audio is not HD or anything amazing but IMO it is a fantastic way of showing you and talking to you. I see know reason why I first timer doing anything could not follow my steps. Keep in mind there will be text slides before video to even further explain steps...

lol. yes it it. I did it in my driveway and even I was like WOW that looks cool, I took so many pics. I got ALOT of looks to.. lol


but good video. I like how you worked fast to keep it short, but you still explained everything well. very good. I would watch that!. (its ok to rush and stop the camera when backing off bolts, just as long as you explain what youe doing. the watchers can always pause and rewind)

You would rock if you would do this, it would help lots with the people who are newer to being a self mechanic including myself

To be accurate, the small bolt on the cover is actually a metric bolt with a 7mm head.
