Motor mount?

How hard will it be to replace the motor mounts?? I have Jethot lt's, mufflex y-pipe, hooker catback. Just wondering a time estimate b/c I have heard it is harder with lt's installed. Also are there some good aftermarket mounts that are better than stock if so where can I get them. Thanks later

Re: Motor mount?

Energy suspension sells poly motor mounts that are better than stock as far as strength goes. You'll get more vibration though.

You'll probably have to disconnect your headers from the rest of the exhaust, remove the through bolt from your motor mounts and either jack the motor up or lift it with a cherry picker. After that you should have enough room to get in there and get the old mounts out. I don't think it will be all that easy, but I've never had to do it.

Re: Motor mount?

I don't know how hard it will be with the headers in there. I went to ES poly mounts when I installed the headers. It was a piece of cake then, and I felt a whole-hell-of-alot of vibration. The car felt like it was going to shake apart.............but I think that had something to do with open headers.....

Re: Motor mount?

I really don't see how people think that relatively stock cars are bad with poly mounts. I put the poly mounts in mine, and its got a big cammed 383, and I noticed it at first, but now I can hardly even tell during 99% of driving. For the 1% where I am sitting at a stop light and it gets down to idle and starts to lope pretty hard, I can tell that the car is shaking a little, but before all this engine work it was really transparent.

Re: Motor mount?

I have Moroso solid mounts with Hooker LT's. Install wasnt bad actually. driver side is a piece of cake. 20 min and it was changed. The passenger side is a bit of a pain but all together it took me just over an hour to swap them both out.
