Motor assembled in garage...

I have had the motor assembled and covered in the garage now for over 4 months. Anything I should redo before installing the heads/cam? I am just afraid of dust and the usual and if this did not work first start up I might go crazy... anything you guys can think of would be appreciated (clean this, clean that, replace this/that...)

thanks

I'd just wipe the cylinders with oil and turn the engine over a few times. I'd also reprime the oil system agian.

Re: Motor assembled in garage...

k cool, when I say assembled I guess that isn't exactly accurate either. There is no cam, heads on, and also there is no oil in it either (needs new oil pump gear? type thing). So once I put oil in it I will definitly prime the hell out of the oil pump.

I appreciate it, will the bearings be fine on the crank? The oil PAN is on, but that is really only thing protecting them. There was engine assembly lube also on the bearings so Im afraid they have collected microscopic dust (makes me scared). any way to clean this out?

thanks again

The engine assembly lube will protect the bearings. As you priming it, it's a good idea to have a friend rotoate the engine over to help get oil to all parts of the crank and rod journals.

Might also be a good idea to squirt a little bit of oil in the cylinders then spin it over a few times.
