Motive or Genuine GM gears? Help please!!

Whats up everybody Im going to order some gears for my car but don't know which brand to pick Heres my choices:

Genuine GM gear set 3.73 with master install kit $274.99

or

Motive Performance gear set 3.73 with master install kit
for $254.99

which one is better? I would think the motive ones would be more expensive but their not why? I don't want 4.10's so its between these two.

thanks

kyzer soze

also i have a 1995 firebird formula 6spd. i drive strictly on the street (haven't gone drag racing yet). I might go to the track maybe 2 or 3 times a year.

Suposedly the GM gears will be "quieter" but if installed properly any gear will be quiet.

Was the same place selling both those gears? The reason I ask is that the Motives and GM gears are said to be one and the same.

GMs are orginal equipment and should fit right in nicely. Motive is after market and usually costs less.

The price you have on those GMs are damn good, especially with the bearing kit included.

Suggest you throw in a RATECH solid shim and spacer kit to replace the crush sleeve.JMHO

GM gears and GM Motive gears are the same.

And from what I've been told Richmonds are the same as Strange. Strange isn't it

Curious. I wonder what the real scoop is?

i doubt that includes the install kit. it is a good idea to get the install kit with your gear set.

I too have heard that Motive makes the gears for GM but have been unable to find the facts to back it up. Before I did my gear install I checked out what all the pros say, and at least at the time, Motive Performance gears were the way to go. I've been very satisfied with my 4.11's!

Well yeah, but you buy the install kit for $89.00 separate and you're still saving money!!!!

Then why do they say the Richmond's howl and Strange's don't?

Richmond is owned by REGAL-BELOIT CORPORATION and Strange is a division of US Gear. The companies don't seem to be related in any way.

Motive and "Genuine" GM gears should be the same. The GM ones are definetly quieter, but "supposedly" the aftermarket Richmonds are stronger. Every Richmond i've ever heard had a slight howl to it. Neither of my GM 4.10s made a sound.

Perhaps you are right. But I know strange is linked to another company.
