I'm not just talking about powertrain, I'm talking the whole friggin thing. BCM, EBCM, PCM and drivetrain, body harness, everything. Anybody ever consider doing it? I dont see why it wouldn't work...dash swaps have been done, and I've done a successful ABS swap (PITA!). Obviously people have used LT1 powertrains in thirdgens. Why not the whole enchilada? I know some wiring extending will have to be done to accomidate the 3rdgen's chassis...I'm seriously considering the newer fourthgen dash swap in my '86 like I did before with the early 4thgen dash...and I've already got a ton of LT1 parts...anybody forsee why this wouldn't work? Just get a '97 parts car if I want to go with the new dash...

And no, I dont want to buy a 4thgen, because I already have a '94 Z. I want something different, tasteful, and fast. I like modernizing cars with GM equipment. For those people who were about to ask!
