What is the most RPM you could turn over in a stock LT1 without running into problems?

 

You aren't going to make power above 6100 with the stock cam, so I'd say that's the limit. I have my shift points (fellow A4 driver here) set at 5900, 100 RPM's more than stock. There's no need to go any higher.

 

I think under 7000. I've heard of guys turning over7k but it eats opti's.

 

I understand that the cam will no longer make power after 6100 but i had a friend who had his shift points changed to 6500 (WOT) and i was just curious if he was going to run into engine problems running that high of rpm on a stock LT1 with minor bolt ons.
