That really isn't bad. It comes with several options, as far as, c clips, 3,4 abs...what is the proper choice? Then they charge all sorts of set up fees...what do they cost factory direct?

My guess, given your first post, is that you'd want the c-clip version with full posi, 33 spline axles, 3 channel abs (4 channel for the LS1). Probably 3.73 gears, but your choice... Looks like that would be $2135.

Ask again in two weeks.

It's in the sig but not on the car. The engine is being finished this week and the rebuilt tranny and rear end will be going on this week or next. If all goes well, we should be testing everything before May 1.

I had lots of the suspension stuff done and the longtubes and stall convertor. The engine, blower, and 12 bolt are all new. It should be pretty fun.

I wasn't aware that C Clips were illegal under certain ET times. What would that be and why would they be illegal? What is the difference between pressed bearings and C Clips? Thanks.

So should I not bother getting the thunderracing kit for $450 or whatever it is? I mean, gears alone are $200 plus $100 or so for the install......so is it worth the extra $150 to beef it up?

I might be crazy, and I dont know much about 12 bolts, but I thought i read somewhere that under a certain time you have to have something different than Cclips, it might not be under a certain ET, it might be with slicks or something.

I don't know what to do either. From what I am getting, it is a waste of time to rebuild the factory rear end. I just wish I knew what it could effectively and efficiently handle. If it were around 400rwhp and tq I would be delighted. I just don't see why to spend over 2 grand if it is not necissary. I am so damn !!!!!!!!!

Id say you would be alright just beefing your up. A4s can handle a bunch more HP than us M6s can, and thats on a stock 10 bolt. If you were to beef yours up with a T/A stud girdle cover, solid crush sleeve, and maybe new bearings, you would be good for quite a bit of HP, I guess it depends on how hard your car shifts, and also how well the gears are installed, and most of all your luck. At the track yesterday I was too scared to powershift into second because it sounded like the car was going to break in half, even shifting into third jerks the thing around a lot.

my car shifts like a s.o.b. when it goes into 2nd...with the hp I have now it feels as if it is not stable...with 400rwhp I don't really think it will last...but I guess I will just hammer it and see what happens...she may love it

From what I understand, it isn't all about HP, but more about how much you race. You can be pushing 500 RWHP, but if you don't race it then you'll never really hurt it. However, if you have slicks/DRs and you're cutting a nasty 60 foot, that's where you might blow out your rear.

I have around 325 HP, and I plan on racing around 1-3 days a season. I'm just hoping my rear will hold it. I think it might be worth it just cuz I will get bigger gears, and I will pay $150 more......

see, I don't use drag slicks or anything like that...but I do race very often on the street (anytime I can get a race). Plus I drive it everyday, so the occasional "merging into traffic" occurs. I don't know what the hell to do...
