More Opti problems (Opti I)

Here we go...the car had Opti symptoms (Optispark I), removed cap and the rotor was melted severely at the distributor mounting surface....replaced with el cheapo cap and rotor kit, reassembled car ran for about 10 minutes, then quit, took back apart and same symptoms..I plan on replacing with MSD Distributor, Is this the right path?

Will have pics tomorrow...it is at the base of the rotor that is melting(mounting surface), the plastic is deforming around the T8 screws.

That would be a big negative... my MSD was a piece! I am going to call and complain tomorrow. For $500 it cost me about a year in down time and no telling how much $$$! I am set against MSD, unless they handle my complaint quickly i will not b referring anyone to MSD!
