Mods & 1/4 Estimate?

Are there any other cheap mods I can do to my car to gain some more HP?? With the mods listed in my sig and possibly some other freebies what would my convertible run in the 1/4? Anybody have some sort of online calculation? Thanks in advance.

Hmmm, well the only mods that will give you any power are the TB bypass, the CAI (honestly, the G2 isnt one of the better intakes) and the programmer. Id say you have ~10-15hp over stock.

Youd probably run somewhere between 13.8-14.2 in the quarter at ~100mph.

If you want a cheap upgrade, I'd say purchase a aftermarket free flowing muffler and have that installed. I'd also recommend buying a used intake to upgrade your G2 unit.

I thought the 25th anniversary TA's were supposed to run like 13.7s stock. I just purchased the G2 and it will be here on monday. What is so bad about the intake? I hope I can beat the 13.8 that you claim it will run...

Well, most LT1s regardless of year and model will run between a high 13 and low 14 bone stock. Whoever told you that they ran a 13.7 was probably speaking from personal experience. The fastest stock LT1 I've ever heard of ran a 13.5, but most dont get near that. 10-15 extra hp is only going to be good for about a tenth or two of a second off your stock time.

The G2 intake is different from other CAI's in that its modeled after the stock airbox. I believe it uses part of the stock airbox as well... though dont quote me on that. Other CAIs such as the Moroso or K&N unit place a large conical filter in the fender. example pic They flow a bit more air than the G2 unit.

Just out of curiosity, is your TA a 6 speed or auto?

G2 still has a box like factoryu one. K&N, moroso, or slp intake are very nice.

depending on driving skills, your motor, and track conditions, you can get lower times than that. you might find yourself in the low13's

6spds are bit quicker than an A4....but thats my .02$

good luck

Don't get his hopes up, he won't be running low 13s w/ a heavy convertible A4 w/ minimal mods. I'd say since it's a convertible, with those couple mods, he'll hit a 14.0 or so. Don't be surprised if you don't hit 13s. Don't get upset, get MODS.

no way he is going to run low 13's, my guess is 14.0-14.2 at 97mph.
his car is stock, he should have about 250 rwhp, and the car is very heavy.

time to start modding

I was asking for an estimate with all the things listed in my sig. I will be getting all of these mods installed very soon. Are there any other little freeby mods that I could do to gain some more? Would getting my cat. convertor cut off give me a pretty good gain or would it make me lose some torque?

How much more does a convertible weigh more than a hartop or t-top car??

Wrong. Not only will he never hit low 13s in that heavy vert (with his mods), but it is A4s that are quicker than M6s. M6s are faster than A4s.

My guess will be 14.0-14.4, since it's basically a stock car.

Is there anyway to do some weight reduction pretty easily? I have never owned a TA before and this will be the first f-body I have ever owned.

cheap mod = weight reduction
a typical A4 vert weighs about 150lbs more than a ttop/coupe M6

cutting your cat off and replacing it with a straight pipe (dont gut it) will give you minimal gains....
mods dont come cheaply start your collection of bolt ons

CSI electric water pump, ASP under drive pulley, 1.6 roller rockers, 2800 high stall torque convertor, 3.73 gears, drag radials to help you get traction just to name a few....

easy weight reduction= remove the front swaybar, spare tire/jack, backseats, etc

Anybody know if a 9"x4" k&n cone air filter will fit right on the end of the g2 tube? I found one for a descent price.
