Modifying waterpump housing? (could save your opti!)
This is what I did...
Don't bother drilling the weephole larger, just use a tap to cut some threads into the existing hole. No need to go in far. I did this with the WP off and did the work with the weep hole pointing down to minimize the filings that could get into the housing. I also vacuumed it out when I was done.
Then I took a plastic Y fitting (sorry, don't remember what size) and cut one "arm" off the Y and sealed that opening with black silicone. Then I stuck the stem of the Y into the pump housing, secured it with some black silicone and installed the pump.
Finally, I routed some rubber tubing from the remaining (unsealed) "arm" of the Y off to the side and away from the Opti. I used zip ties to keep the tubing clear of the rotating parts. It's not pretty, but my car's not a show car anyway.
I have no idea if this will all stay in place long enough to protect the Opti. But hopefully, my WP won't crap out anytime soon and this contraption will not be tested. At any rate, the whole thing cost about a couple of bucks and added a few minutes to the WP install.
25 miles so far and no problems!!!!

Thanks for the info, I may or may not try it, depending on weather I get an electric pump or not. Although I think the electric one plugs the weep hole?! But my only complaint on the stock one is the weepy leaky. Either way thanks.
