Modifying spark plug socket for lt1 spark plug change

I see on ebay some modified spark plug sockets that are made to fit inside the small areas of my engine. I have a 5/8 in spark plug socket and i was wondering if anyone has a link to guide or can tell me how to make the socket 1 3/8 '' long. Do i just cut it shorter or do i have to modify the inside as well?

I used a socket that had a 21mm end and cut down the socket down to fit into the tight area of my headers. It was very easy to do with a vice and saws-all. Now I put the socket over the plug and use a open end wrench with a 21mm end and take the plug out.

Did you have to bore out the inside at all so the porcelein part would fit?

Just get a 1/2 inch drive, 5/8 socket, one of the short ones, not deep.

tack weld a rod, or an old wrench to it. The plug will fit through the 1/2 drive, and its super shallow to fit in all sorts of places.

I did have to drill the hole bigger for the porcelein to fit.

Yes, cut the end shorter on the part that slides over the plug, and then you need to drill out the hole in the back. (at least I had to.) Then just use an open end or closed end wrench on the socket to tighten/loosen the plug. Works well.

Hmmm...I used a regular Craftsman plug socket on all 8 of mine Friday. Took me an hour to change 'em...With the MAC headers.
