Alright guys I'm going to be buying a 94 TA in the next couple days and I want to run my mod list by you guys and see if you see somthing that needs to be changed. Trying to only spend about $1500 on parts

94 TA 6-speed 65,000 miles
4.10 (possibly only go 3.73) gears with installation pagakage from Thunder racing $400
CC "305" cam $250
CC 1.6 rocker arms $275
New timing chain $75
New pushrods $40
LPE Cold air $160
Catback exhaust $300

What do you think?

Re: Mod Advice

Sounds good. But I noticed something no headers? . With the extra work you doing I would suggest headers. By doing lot of reading it seems that Long Tubes are the best way to go. With a cam i would suggest headers. Good luck with everything.

Re: Mod Advice

sounds fun, when you order your cam make sure it has the provisions to run the 94 unvented opti-spark, when i ordered mine i got a cam for 95 and newer with the dowel instead of the splined shaft and i ended up just converting my car to the vented opti, i bought the distributer, new timing chain cover and a new plug that goes into the top of the opti (they are different) good luck and have fun!!

Re: Mod Advice

Go with a cc306 or GM847 cam. I have the cc305 for a daily driver and i wish i went bigger. Though i have noticed 0 cam surge and it sounds kinda lopey i still would be more happy with something with a little more umph.

Re: Mod Advice

Good basic mods. I'm not a fan of that cam, but good list anyway. A cheap short stick ($25) would be a good addition too.

Re: Mod Advice

if you get the cam dont forget the springs because the stockers wont handle it, and dont forget a tune either. no sense in half a**ing it. i'd probably skip the gears since your rear will very likely break anyway. and i'd just do a little cheapy cai, (creativity saves money here). and with the money you can save on all that you could probably sneak some headers (coated pacesetters?) and wires in. the important thing here is to research and make sure you didnt forget ANYTHING. nickel and dime garbage always kills people.

on another note if things get tight on your budget just buy the hotcam by itself ($160 from sdpc) and save some cash then throw your pro mags in there with it and use some decent comp springs. you should be able to get it all done with your budget. good luck

edit: skip the boxed lca's for now.

Big shift in the lists! I like the second one better for install ease. Just bought a set of J&M products tubular rear arms, $83 delivered. There's a guy on ebay that sells em buy it now only. I'm impressed with the weld quality, powdercoat thickness, and poly bushings with grease zerks. You could use the money I just saved you to buy an LT4 knock module and and skip shift eliminator. Enjoy the car

Re: Mod Advice

Yeah, It's definitely a big shift. With all the advice I got I had to switch it up. I'm really happy with starting with these mods. Where did you find the J&M LCA's?
