Mobil 1 synthetic

Is it good to switch to Synthetic oil after only using regular oil for the life of the engine. My TA just turned 100k yesterday, and I want it to last as long as possible. It still runs great and has awesome power, just wondering if that is something that will help. Right now I use Valvoline Max life. Would it benefit me now to switch to Mobil 1 synthetic? I have heard rumors of both being good and bad, just want to see what the general consensus is.

I use both
2 qts. 10w-30 Mobil 1
3 qts. 10w-30 Valvoline Max Life

Seems to work fairly well. No probs with engine, no probs with mixing diff. types of oil.

I would switch. Synthetic is a much better oil. The only problem people come across is when they switch, since synthetic doesn't have impurities and deposits like normal oil it will sometimes "reveal" an oil leak. The synthetic doesn't cause it, but since the leak isn't being plugged by deposits anymore it may leak. Do it, I doubt you regret it, and if you do, switch back, easy as that

Thats true, but recently on this board people haven't had any problems like that. I'd do it. I switched to synthetic when my old motor had like 50k on it. Spun my bearings with 79k. Maybe I shoulda changed it earlier.

even though it doesn't happen to everybody, leaks CAN be revealed. Bottom line : switch, its a way better oil for your car!

I developed an intake leak big-time when I went to Mobil I at 27K mi. After I fixed that leak, it hasn't leaked a drop since though.

definately go for it, just keep an eye open for a while after you do. Im not too sure on mixing and matching dino and synthetic, seems like if it was a good idea more people would be doing it. (or maybe more people are and i havent read about it , definately new to me)
