When I say electrical, I'm referring that it could be a loose-hanging wire that's grounding out occasionally. Could be, since I've relocated my battery to the trunk, and near the engine, the cable runs right alongside the exhaust...

Dusted is when dirt and dust get in the cylinders and wear the the rings out, and they dont seal well, and make low compression.

I haven't really noticed any power loss, which leads me to think that I haven't "dusted" the engine...

You may not notice a power difference. You may notice a little oil usage in the future though, and maybe some oil leaks.

Re: Missing Air Filter: Can this be the cause of my random engine stumble & hesitatio

Well, I may have found part of my problem. When I relocated the battery to the trunk, the only way I was able to connect it to both the starter and alternator was to run the positive cable to the starter, then piggyback a 4 gauge wire from the starter to the alternator. Well, I examined it (when looking for loose connections and/or burned wires), and I found that the retainer nut had come loose. I tightened it, and it seemed to solve my problem a little bit, as the stumbling isn't happening as frequently, but it still does, and just a few minutes ago (when taking it for a test drive) it almost completely died after leaving a traffic light...

SGFuryZ ~ Not to be on your ***, but you should put some details about your car in the sig. It would help us to diagnose stuff.

Start it up at night, and look under the hood real close at the boots of the plug wires on both ends by the coil packs and the plugs. Check all the coils good as well. Is your car an automatic? You said it only does it cruising and not freely revving it past those RPM's. If it is an automatic, have someone get in it and hold the brakes on with it in D while they give it some throttle to bring it up to the RPM where the miss occurs at. While they do this, look at the coils/wires and everything and see how it looks.

This is actually alot easier than it sounds. Ive seen it done 1000's of times at the garage I work at ...

My car is a manual. Sorry if I wasn't more descriptive of my mods. If I listed them all, my sig would be huge!! How would I diagnose the coilpacks on a manual?

god bless those old carb fed non-computer contorlled hot rod guys, but i wouldn't let one of them try to troubleshoot my LT1 for anything......unless he has been working on LT/LS for his last 15 years.

He's not old-fashioned. He hasn't any experience with LT1s per se, but he's quite familiar with EFI cars. My neighbor isn't the guy who's got the Snap-On diagnostics tool. I simply let him ride with me to see if he may have had any ideas or input as to what the problem might be...
