Missfire at idle

Well about a week ago i started my car, warmed it up for a minute, then when i put it in drive it started to missfire pretty bad and when i started going it would run fine then when i stopped it misfire again then when my temp gauge went past 160 it would stop. Now its been doing it ever since until the temp gauge reads past 160 then it will stop. My car has 103k on it, but im not sure what is causing this cuz it only does it in reverse or drive not in park. I drove it through the whole rpm band and it only missfires at idle when the temp is below 160.

sounds like one of your temperature sensors went bad. test the one in the waterpump then test the other one in the head. if those read incorrectly it will make your car run lean or rich depending on where it fails.

The temp sender in the head is only for the dash gauge, and has no effect whatsever on the way the engine runs.

Sounds like it may be an "open loop" issue. The PCM has a limited ability to correct the A/F ratio at cold start, when the O2 sensors are not used to correct the fuel to the engine.

have you checked your wires including the coil wire

funny things can happen when they go bad

checked the wires and plugs they look good, what problems could it be since it only runs bad in open loop?

check wires, I had the same problem, found out it was a fried wire against the header. Lt1's love to eat wires unless you have the over the valve cover wire set up

this is true, although my cheap taylor OVC set up still misses in the rain

wait for it to get dark and mist water under the hood and look for the spark to arc
