misfiring opti ?

this has been an on going problem and im not getting anywhere.
my waterpump went and the car was spitting and sputtering im guessing the opti got soaked and was ruined. it ran bad to get home let it sit and then it wouldnt start. replaced the opti it started but still ran bad. tried changing the plugs and wires coil and icm o2 sensor mass air flow sensor, new alternator still running bad. I read a post where someone said that the seal on the timing cover was bad and oil ruined the opti and when installing the opti i noticed the seal had a little chunk out of it hoping that that might be the problem. the car is like misfiring and its worse at low rpm. when i come to a light or stop sign the car idles really low and the battery guage goes to the quarter line. I dont have the money to drop it off somewhere and tell them to find the problem

When you took your old Opti off, was there any evidence of oil inside it?

If I read this correctly, it was running poorly, and replacing the Opti made no change whatsoever, except that it would start and continue to run badly??

At any time, before starting to randomly replace parts, did you scan it for codes? At any time, did you check the fuel pressure? At any time, did you check for an actual spark at the end of a spark plug wire? At any time did you verify the engine is getting fuel? Did you check all the electrical connectors that might have been soaked with coolant?
