Misfire problem ... Confused, don't think its a wire.

Here is what I know ...

*I put the plug wires in about 1000 miles ago (NOT NEW wires, however, at the most they should have 14K on then as thats what the engine has, they MAY be origional may not, I bought it wrecked and put it all together)
*None of the wires appeared to have cracks in them at that time
*The wires all have that electrical connector grease at the spark plug end, NOT on the Opti end ( Should it have it here ??? )
*The Opti may be original, it may not

*It fires rite up
*Never misses at idle, or so it seems ??? Solid Steady Idle ...
*If revved in nuetral, its fine ... or so it sounds/seems

*As im driving, it Intermitantly will begin to miss
It will do this for a second or two then stop missing and accelerate like usual, then maybe it will miss again ... However, after 2500 RPM's it seems to be OK. I havent spun it way up (Past 4K) since the miss issue though. If I let off the gas, then get back on it, WHILE it was missing, it seems to stop, at least for a few seconds ... Then other times I can drive it 5 miles and no miss. It seems like the damper it is outside the worse it is.

***NO wires are burned from the headers
***When it started missing out time, I pulled into my Pap's driveway, and when I got out with it Idleing, you could hear a steady clicking coming from up by the Opti ( Front of engine, down low ). A click, sort of like something was arching, but I couldnt see much of anything at the time.

So, how likely is it that it is my Opti going ... OR what Im hoping, the spark plug wires should have the electrical connector grease in the ends by the opti too, and that would cause it?

i'd say check number 6's wire.. Make sure all are seated on the plug all the way.. As well as in the opti.. pull em out and push em back in till they click..

Thanks ... I forgot to mention that when I put my headers on, I did check to make sure all the wires are on all the way and clicked in ...

This problem is driving me nuts ... and maybe its a psycological thing but it sure seems like tis doing more and more often.

I fear my Opti may be

holy crap man my car is doing the same thing, only i got SES light on mine intermintenly. I have a 95 so i had my buddy shop take it today and see whats all going, but my car was doing the exact same thing, according to my A/F gauge the last week before this happened i was getting leaner and leaner everytime the car saw duty. But the pre estimate is that the OPTI spark is going on my car as well as the cats cause my exhaust is wreaking of rotten stuff. But as soon as i get some more info from the shop ill let you know.
