Misfire issue still persists
Misfire issue still persists
Well, I have a misfire issue that I've been dealing with for a while. I hope its not the opti, but I'm open for suggestions.
Basically, I have a new motor and opti. 10-11 thousand miles old.
A month or two ago I had the beginnings of a misfire up around 5300rpms. It misses once in every 3 or 4 times going WOT to redline. Then it started getting more frequent. Soon after this, I burned #7 wire to the manifold and had an arcing wire.
I replaced this, same problem persisted.
I went ahead and put in MSD wires and Iridium plugs. Car ran a hell of a lot smoother, but still had the occasional miss.
Then I replaced my coil.
It smoothed out my running also, but then I noticed immediately that the occasional miss still persisted. Now its progressed to a very rough feeling under load at low RPMs in low gears. Like 3000rpms in 3rd gear cruising is very rough and shaky.
I'm at the end here of things to replace. My ignition control module is original, but I don't think its that. I'm THINKING its got to be spark related, but then again who knows.
The opti is warrantied another 500 miles or so, but how would I prove to the dealer that I have a bad opti? They're going to want to say I replaced my plugs/wires/coil wrong or something. Ideas? Is it even the opti?

Since I didn't see anybody else here,I thought I would chime in.I would remove the heat shields on the spark plugs,as it sounds like the spark is trying to find a ground somewhere.Second,I would check if the waterpump is giving the opti a bath at high rpms.Hope this helps.
