So I get my longtubes and everything installed, and about an hour into cruising it starts to buck and become rough. I go to Autozone to get it scanned and it said I had a misfire. I'm pretty sure that it is the spark plug wires that have burnt through causing a misfire. Would this also cause knocking? Does that sound like a problem with the wires? I ran REALLY rough and accelerated like a dog. I'm pretty sure it's just the wires that are burnt, because I felt it and it looked like it was startin to burn. Any comments/suggestions/ideas? Everything is normal except for the O2 codes and the misfiring, but I expect that to go away after I get OVTC wires. Can misfire cause a knock? What is a hand held crimping tool and a crimping tool for vice? Do they come with crimpers?

 

Sounds Like Wires To Me. Autozone Scans Are Not Diagnostics So Don't Trust What They Tell You Completely.

 

What was the exact code number?

 

I don't remember to be honest with you. I just got it scanned and the person doing it just told me what the code was, not the code number. This morning it started fine. Do you guys think it's possible that the stock wires can get so hot from the heat that they stop operating normally? I will try to get the code number later.
