Angry Misfire after puddle

Ok, the base info. I have a 1988 Monte Carlo SS that I swapped an LT1 into (from a b-body). I frequent a few LT1 boards, but this is the best I have seen for tech, and the b-body sites are useless, they are just part changers.

So here's the deal. I have a 2 hour commute to and from school, and I come home about every other week. I came home yesterday, the 6th, and it was raining pretty good. I take one back road for about 3 miles to get between two major highways... its more conveinient. Well, at one point, half of the road was flooded, I waited for a chance, and went into the oncomming lane (no cars in sight ) and while I was in a very shallow part, water did splash up badly on the passenger side. less than 2 miles down the road it had a bad miss, that was somewhat intermittant. The miss is there 85% of the time, and every once in a while it will "clear up" and accelerate, as I am haveing to give it more throttle than normal to maintain a given speed.

Now here's the odd part. The miss is on the driver's side, while the water splashed the most on the passenger side. I determined it is on the driver's side because I have true duals, and the pass side exhaust was clean, while the driver's was black. I figured the opti may have gotten wet, but once I went through a big puddle in another LT1 car, and it totally died, and then started and ran fine after a 1/2 hour. I looked at the O2 and knock sensor wiring, and all seems to be in order, though at this point, Im at a loss. Any thoughts?

let it sit a few days and see if drying out helps it any, its probably the opti, do you have a vented opti or a sealed unit?

i tried to wash my engine bay twice and both times I flooded the opti. The car won't even start. But after a couple of minutes it started back up with a little bit of cranking an gas. Then by the time I got home it was fine. Not sure if this helps or not or just shows everybody how much of a moron I am but there yeah go!

Alright, that was a bit harsh, but well, lets just say Im more into doing my own work, as opposed to paying someone to do it. The majority of those on the b-body sites I have visited are the latter. I apoligize to those I may have offended. (tries to remove foot from mouth)

My motor is a 94, but Im pretty sure the previous owner said it was changed to a vented opti. I was thinkin... which is dangerous for me.... maybe its so cold that the water really isnt evaporating... it stays relatively humid throughout the year in MD, maybe I should take a Hair Dryer to it? LOL, that's the only thing I can see to do at this point. Thanks all for your help so far.
