Misfire

Hey guys. I got myself a problem. I sent my car in to get new wires. I have the Taylor over the valve cover wire. I assumed that's what he was putting in. But no. This guy put wires in the stock location. Now being that I have shorties I thought it would be a issue. I get the car back and boom. The car starts to misfire. It pops every once in a while at idle when cold. Then going down the road if I keep my shifts at 1600 Rpm and cruise at no more than 2000 rpm I wont misfire. The second I get a little aggressive with the speed I get drama. The codes read a 0300. Nothing else. I called the mechanic and he told me the opti was bad. Bud it didn't misfire before I delivered the car. Would him crossing wires cause that trouble code? I'm lossed. I thought if that was the codes would atleast give me the cylinders. Or am I wrong? Any help would be great.

Re: Misfire

Based on you having zero trouble going into the shop, I think he f'd up the plug wire install.

I think a scanner with GM enhanced parameters will tell you the cylinder # that is having the trouble.

Consider that I have long tube headers. I used the stock wire locations and have had zero problems. You just have to carefully route them to make sure the wires and boots don't touch the headers. I did make sure that my performance wires were 7mm. That way they would fit in the looms fine.

Of course, there is nothing wrong with OTVC wires either.

Look over these....

See step #2 on page 3. It mentions looking at the misfire counters with the scan tool(gm enhanced parameters).

Re: Misfire

I was able to find a diagram of the routing of the wires. Took me 10 minutes to double check them. I would do that myself first and see if he screwed the order up. I also burnt the plug wires and caused the same problems as your describing. That is very easy to check yourself also. Just make sure the car is cooled off completely!
