misfire

hi, I just got a 97 Formula like 2 days ago, and today the engine light came on flashing, so i stppped at an autozone and they put on the diagnostic tool, and came up with the code for misfiring. i dont remember the code exactly. I have the car in the driveway cooling off now so I can look at it. I'm hopin its just like a loose plug wire, cuz I bought the car an hour and a half away from me, and I don't wanna drive it that far like this. It does'nt act too weird like the cylinder isn't firing at all, but there is a lack of acceleration power. I'm new at this engine, so a little advice would be appreciated on how to remedy this problem so I dont have to go back to the dealer.

Re: misfire

Only thing you can do is check the plugs and the wires. Its usually a plug wire that has burned, fell off or got tangled in the pulleys. Since you just got the car you should give it a tune up anyways, that way you'll know last time it was done and will make sure it is running optimal.

Re: misfire

thats what i was thinkin i was just worried about it being the optispark. the thing is, the car as i said before doesnt really jump or anything, i am gonna take it in tomorrow, and if its something big then its goin back to the dealer.
by the way, whats a good set of plugs and wires to have put on?
