Let it coast more often. I found out that when I drive in the city I can always predict where am I going to have to stop... and I began to just let the car coast more often...

For lack of better words... you see a yellow or redlight ahead of you... or a stop sign... just let off the gas sooner. try using the brakes less often... sometimes you bring the car up to speed and keep it there untill your BIG rear end is already DEEP into a curve then you panic and HIT the brakes to avoid SCRAPPING your paint oh the RAIL at the other end. well how about bleeding some speed by coasting before the turn? Think of lettin off the gas far enough to a point where your speed into the turn is going to be slow enough where no braking will be necessary... it will save ya lil bits of gas each time Keep you from gettin a new paint Job or even a speeding ticket and everything adds up!!

I only do that in the city though... ya know, that continuos stop and go stop and go.... gas and brakes gas and brakes... get my point?

Dont forget to loose that gut either all those 90 Fatty Gut pounds!! gotta be worth some gas savings ya know...

Just kidding ya ...

a better flowing exhaust and intake will help bring mileage. I remember hotrod magazine installing a cold air induction on some old Chevelle or something and they calimed 2tenths better and 2 mpg better, the second sounds hard to believe as that much increase in mileage is hard to get, but it was on an older car, ur cars won't see such drastic results but will help. Also changing your oil regularly making such air filter is clean, car is in correct alinment and air tire pressure is correct. You want the car to move as freely as possible without resistance. Knowing the right time to use air conditioning and when to roll down the windows, open windows create drag, so at high speeds air would probably be better, maybe someone else has some input on it. Having a numerically higher gear ratio in your rear will also help so long as you don't accelerate harder more often because of it. Also you will have to maintain the same rpm as the older gears ruffly , you ideally want to get as close as possible to the peak torque output, without going to high on rpm where its sucking more gas. The gears help move the vehicle easier (like a longer leverage) so you can use less pedal push to move the car. Lighter rims might make a difference, but not sure how much if any. Gutting the car will help, but to obtain 1 mpg you will need to reduce ruffly 1000 pounds which is pretty hard and takes away from the creature comforts

How many miles on the car. When was the last time you did plugs and wires or changed O2"s. I get 16 in the city to with the mods listed below.

If you have a M6, shift from 1st to 4th.

I get ~18 in the city.

Yeah, I wish I could get 16 in the city. Maybe there is too much lead in MY foot.

Try to keep the revs below 2500rpm, also like someone else said, use the skip shift feature, even if you removed it. Gas mileage is the exact reason GM put that thing on there to begin with.
