Cam for 383?

Ok, help me pick a cam. The engine is an LT1 based 383 with 11:1 compression, and forged guts. Everything was built with N20 in mind, so I plan to shoot it with a 100-150 shot once I have selected a cam. I had pretty much decided on this cam until today:

.536/.571
230-239
all on a 114 LS

That's the one competition motorsports in Las Vegas recommended, without knowing the head flow numbers. The engine builder uses a computer program to pick cams for him, this is what his computer program recommended:

.525/.535
232/232
on a 115 LS

I am kinda inclined to go with the engine builder's recommendations, because he had head flow numbers. Unfortunately the flow numbers have been lost, and only the cam profile remains.

The only reason I didn't go with that cam is because of the nitrous. I am under the impression that N20 really likes a split pattern cam, .010 isn't enough to make the engine happy on the bottle, IMO.

Another complication is the block has been decked, and the heads have been shaved a tad. Should I worry about valve/piston contact with a bigger cam? The psitons are 10:1 but the final compression is closer to 11:1 with the block decked, and heads milled.

What you guys think?

Cmotorsports cam.

Bummer that you aren't able to get the flow #'s. If anything just pull them off over the winter and head over to Chapman.

The computer cam is a NO, not only does nitrous not like single patterns, LT1s dont either.

THe other cam is ok, but will be really mild in a 383.

The CMotorsports cam sounds like a MUCH better cam for your setup, but like the other person said, it won't be to radical in that 383. I think they have a new cam out that's like a 233/242 or something like that, that'd be awesome too.

The More Performance stroker cam, 234-242 and 595 lift with a 1.6 rocker. Works for me .

Thats not a stroker cam, im running it in my lil 350

Anyways, it would be pretty tame in a 383, very driveable. I like the way the exhaust is favored heavily, but i would get it ground on a 114 not a 112 to knock you powerband down a little.

how about some more information. the cylinder head flow numbers would be of help, as would your driving goals. is this something you drive everyday or just a weekend car? what kind of track performance goals are you setting? the more info the better the answer but i can't tell much from the info you gave.

I drive the car a lot. And my wife drives it alot. I have to have something she can drive without having to worry about it stalling with the AC or anything like that. Driveability is #1, power is #2.

I don't have access to head flow #'s, I thought I mentioned that in my first post. The car went the times in my sig at about 4500 ft. above sea level, so it's making pretty good power right now with an LT4 hotcam. To produce that kind of power on a little cam, I am kinda forced to assume the porter did a pretty good job on the heads, but who knows.

As far as HP goals go, I'd like to see at least a 20 RWHP increase, anything over that would be great.

At the track, I'd like to drop .3-.5 with the addition of the bigger cam and some long tube headers. It's got shorties on it right now.

The previos owner claimed it dyno'd at 411 RWHP, but again, I dunno. The only thing I really do know, is that it needs a bigger cam, and it HAS to have good driveability, lol.
