Exclamation In the middle of opti....

Hey guys,

I'm in the middle of my opti install and I have followed everything to a T so far. I just put the opti on after about 15 minutes of trying to get the spline lined up, but it did eventually just slip right in without any effort.

So I started it up per everyones suggestion before puting the water pump back on and I'm not sure how exactly it is supposed to be running?

The first time I started it up it surged from 500rpm-2500rpm without me touching the throttle once. I started it up again without having made any changes and it settled it's idle around 1500rpm and responded fine when I revved it but was still idling high. So it isn't running like total crap or anything right now just not idling at the correct rpm, could this be due to all of the stuff that is not on the car right now such as alternator, intake elbow, water pump.....?

Should I just assume it is running right and finish putting it back together or no?

Did you re-install the intake and MAF?

If you have the MAF plugged in with the intake elbow off, it will run like crap if it runs at all. My car did the same thing, surged, idled high for a few minutes, eventually died and would not restart. I thought I had worked my butt off all for naught and felt like a dumbass when I figured out, with a little help, what it was. I put the elbow on and it ran like a champ. I had no idea that faulty intake readings would make such a dramatic difference. I guess my car thought it was getting absolutely no air.

Just an Update:

Everybody is absolutely right. Hooked the intake elbow and MAF up and it ran good. Got it all back together and took it for a spin around the block and everything looks good.
