In the middle of a clutch install and need help ASAP!

Angry In the middle of a clutch install and need help ASAP!

ok, heres the deal, im in wichita falls on leave and the clutch decides to go. well i got the tranny out, but i cant get the flywheel bolts to break loose so i can get it resurfaced. i do not have the use of air tools available to me and i have already soaked the bolts in penatrent. any advice on gettting this flywheel out would be greatly apprecieted.

Either get a buddy to hold the flywheel while you crank on the wrench, or hit the wrench with a hammer to break the bolts free. You can tighten the bolts the same way. It is a good idea to use a 6 point socket or wrench though so you dont strip the bolts and get screwed even worse than you are right now.

Make sure your crank doesn't turn and use a breaker bar. Nothing to it, really.

My tool of choice; 31" Craftsman 1/2 drive breaker bar, and either /8use the proper sized 1/2" drive hex socket, or a 1/2 to 3/8" adapter.

Make sure to use a torque wrench and properly torque down the flywheel bolts when you replace them.
