Methanol Injected LT1
Methanol Injected LT1
This little project started at the end of last year racing season in October. Had a pretty successful year but I was looking for something with a little more consistency and running alcohol was the best choice. The motor was still running strong and decided to stay with the old LT1 motor. After looking and talking to people it was decided to run a mechanical injected system and I purchased a good used Ron’s Toilet system.
I knew that I had my work cut of for me, install a new intake, install a new fuel system, install new wiring and some fabrication was going to be needed to complete this project before the start of the race season this year. So I started this project at the end of October and it officially ended when the car made its first trip down the track this past weekend.
I’m totally blown away on how the car performed. The best ET of the weekend was a 10.82@124, not was fast as the gas setup but it will be once we make a gear change. The DA was about 2100 feet and humidity was in the high 40 percent range. I looked at my notes from my gas setup and the car would have been in the 11.0’s range. My best time in the gas setup was in very low DA setup plus running a smaller rear tire, since then I switched to a taller tire in the gas setup and the ET’s fell off.
I’m confident once the gear change it should dip into the 10.70’s. Anyway here are some of the pics of the motor setup, I’m not sure but this is the only LT1 that I’m aware of that has been converted to run this type of system. For complete pictures of my project I documented the process on my website. http://www.teamandersonracing.com/ProjectMethanol.htm
Enjoy!

Nice Ken, how does the igniton run, just like a SBC huh, what kind of igniton box are you using? I thought about doing this to get rid of the opti and just use the pcm for fueling. Looking good. Later Clint
Clint,
Yup just like a SBC setup. I'm running the MSD 6AL-2, MSD Crank Trigger. No more RPM limits now. I'm still don't want to turn that high. I have it set at 7100 for the rev limit.
No more broken opti's for me!
Thanks
