Metal polish on rotors

I know this should be in the Show & Shine section, but I needed a quick response to my question. My rotors all have quite a bit of orange/brown rust on them. Is it okay to use a regular metal polish to clean the rotors, or is this going to affect the brakes? I figured it might be alright to use as long as I wash all the polish off well afterwards, so none of the polish gets on the calipers/pads. Just wanted to ask you guys before I did anything stupid!

if it's just surface rust where the pad squeezes I would just drive it like that. a few times of hitting the brakes and they'll be back to normal, and that way you don't have to worry about messing anything up

If I did use polish, I'd make sure to wipe all of it off and then clean them good w/some brake cleaner.

hope this helps ---J.Bird

Just drive it and use the brakes. If it's the back ones and it's hard to get rid of it, use the ebrake when braking.

FYI, from what I've been told using the e-brake has nothing to do with the rear rotor surface and doesn't utilize the rotor pads. The e-brake uses these little pucks that press against the inner part of the rotor.
