Not bad if your rotors are in good conditon. I've done this before several times. If there are no high spots (brakes pulsing when braking hard) and if there are no ridges, then there's not really a problem. BTW, just get your rotors turned instead of buying new.

You shouldn't have to replace the rotors unless they are warped and have worn down to the point that a shop will not turn them anymore. There is no reason to replace them just because your getting new pads.

I definitely agree, unless you feel vibrating when you step on the brakes or have groves from wearing your pads to the rivits, just sand the rotors real good and put 'em back on.

BTW, go to Oreilly if you can, they have much better stuff than Autozone. You can take 'em your rotors and they'll turn them only if they need to be turned, which they will then charge you around $10 a rotor.

well before i changed the pads, it was vibrating to the point where the carw as basically shaking back and forth when braking.. now w/ the new pads it is hardly there, i can still feel it but nooo way as bad.

so do you think turning the rotors would be fine or should i just go get new ones...?

Oh and if i take the car to Oreilly, do i have to just give them the rotors off the car, or will they take them off and do them. and this is $10 per rotor right?

thx for the quick responses by the way

new brake pads won't help the vibrating. The faster you're going when you brake, the more vibrating there will be. Oreilly won't take the rotors off, you have to bring them in off the car. If the rotors aren't too thin, they will turn them, then they'll be good as new. If they're too thin, Oreilly won't turn them for you, they'll say you need to buy new ones. And you don't necessarily need to replace both or all rotors, just the ones that are too thin to turn.
