me and my lt1 butted heads today
well i start changin my plugs today and get to about four of them and start to do the others from the bottom. Im puttin the alternator back on and the top bolt that goes through the alternator and the bracket split in three pieces. So now i have to take the whole bracket off and the power steerin pump. I have already taken the fans off and am going to try to get the pulley off the power steering pump. I guess i need a puller of some sort. any suggestions? I should have never started this, the car runs fine, but i figured it was time for new plugs, ( they have been in there since 99)
You can get that bracket out without removing the fans, trust me. I've done it.
You don't need to remove the power steering pump pulley either, only the entire power steering pump. Just spin the pulley to access the two bolts holding it on to the bracket. There's three bolts that hold the bracket to the block and head, and you will have to undo the 2-3 bolts holding the A/C compressor to the bracket also. It's actually a pretty easy swap.
Mine did the exact same thing as yours some time ago.
