May Have COOLING issues??

Just like the post stated I may have some cooling issues and I could use your input. Application 385 stroker LT1. I have deleted the A/C in it's entirity. Im running the A/C delete pulley. With the radiator filled I start the motor and bleed the air out with the two bleeder valves while motor is running. After turning both valves I see water coming out like it should then I quickly close them back up. I get into the car and I still notice that the TEMP is rising. I have reprogramed the computer to kick the fans on at 180. After I shut the motor. I reopen the valve and HOT AIR comes bursting out. SO what does this mean? Have I not yet bleed all the air out of my heads yet? This is a new motor. If I have bleed the air out going through the steps above then why does motor still overheat, and when I turn the key off and pop one of the bleeder valve open, there is still air coming out?

well

To be honest these cars are a PITA to get air out of. Do a search for bleeding, the best way is to bleed these cars I believe is to gravity bleed them by using a special funnel. You attach that to the radiator and fill it up with coolant and let it work through the system with the motor off. Also I hear it helps to jack up each side of the car for a few minutes. Hope this helps. Some shops also have special little machines that do it, They force the coolant through to get the air out.

If you did not have the bleeders open when you filled the cooling system (like you are supposed to), there will likely be air in the system. If there is a big air pocket, it can take several attempts to get all the air out.

So should I drain all the fluid and refill the with vavles open? Or just keep bleeding system until no air comes out? Im slightly worried because I had the motor running and opened up the valves and water was coming out of both pretty solid. Then when I turn the motor off becuase it starts to get hot, ill open the valves and air will come bursting out. Today after the motor was hot I shut the car off, and open the top valve and a boat load of HOT air CAME OUT. NO water. So sounds like I may just have alot of AIR POCKETS in there. Is there a possiblity of LEAKS? if so how is that possible?

I use this method from the owner's manual......seems to work pretty good.

1. You can remove the radiator pressure cap when the
cooling system, including the radiator pressure cap and
upper radiator hose, is no longer hot. Turn the pressure
cap slowly counterclockwise until it first stops. (Don’t
press down while turning the pressure cap.)
If you hear a hiss, wait for that to stop. A hiss means
there is still some pressure left.

2. Then keep turning the pressure cap, but now push
down as you turn it. Remove the pressure cap.

3. After the engine cools, open the air bleed valves on
the heater return hose and water pump inlet.

4. Fill with the proper mix. Add coolant until you see a steady
stream of coolant coming from the bleed valves.

5. Close the bleed valves.

6. Continue to fill the radiator up to the base of the
filler neck.

7. Rinse or wipe the spilled coolant from the engine
and compartment.

8. Start the engine and allow it to run in idle for
approximately four minutes. By this time, the
coolant level inside the radiator will be lower. Add
more of the proper mix through the filler neck until
the level reaches the base of the filler neck.

9. Shut the engine off and replace the pressure cap.
Be sure the arrows on the cap line up like this.
(RC24 towards front of car)

10. Then fill the coolant recovery tank to the
proper level.

Added by me: Now bleed system with bleeders while car is running.
Also, check for the next couple of days to make sure the system is full
and there is no air in it....bleed it again(just open bleeders with the car running).
