max lift with stock valvesprings?

It looks like I'm trading my '84 T/A for a '94 Z28 needing some work. I'll need to pull the intake, and was wondering if I could get away temporarily with putting in a cc305 (.510" lift I & E)temporarily until I could afford to stroke it to a 396. Just wondering, thanks!

BTW is there a cheap/ free mods section to this site I could read? This car is pretty much a virgin so it's ready to mod...

Max recommended lift for stock springs I believe is 0.490", so change the springs.
