Mating Stock Y pipe to MACS
Mating Stock Y pipe to MACS
Anybody ever mate a stock dual cat Y pipe (from a 96 TA in my case) to a set of MAC midlengths? Obviously they would have to be modified but can it be done? Will an exhaust shop due this type of modification? Otherwise im pretty handy with a welder and a cutting wheel, could I do it myself and how does it have to be done? Thanks Guys
Re: Mating Stock Y pipe to MACS
I'm going to go ahead and say throw out the stock y-pipe. It's restrictive and most likely rusted as hell anyways, why go through the trouble of trying to modify it to fit? I'd just have a shop weld up a y-pipe with some cats (Carsounds I've heard are good, and cheap), or even buy the y-pipe from Mac, though I've been told their catted y doesn't flow well.
Re: Mating Stock Y pipe to MACS
The reason why I may just modify the stock y pipe is this:
1. Don't have tons of money
2. Don't want my car too loud
3. Want to use the SLP LM catback I just installed and don't want it to sound like junk.
4. Im not too concerned with the restrictive nature of the stocker because I'm just trying to build a nice street car, not a 800 hp dragcar
I know what you are saying and may just have a custom Y pipe welded up, but I just don't know as of yet. If anybody else could chime in with their thoughts or expierience that would be great.
