MAP unplugged while running = no change in idle?

I have been troubleshooting a crappy idle, tons of black smoke at WOT, and bad surging for a while now. I have replaced my MAP sensor with an advance auto version (a manager at advance replaced his 4 times with advance parts...all bad...gm MAP fixed it on the first try) with no luck. I can unplug the sensor and there is absolutely no change in idle. Does this sound like a bad sensor?

Thanx
Joe

Don't think that is a good way to troubleshoot it. The pcm will calculate MAP on it's own when there is no MAP signal. You may or may not notice a change in idle.
