MAP Sensor
Re: MAP Sensor
If you managed to get the SeaFoam up into the sensor, it would throw off the readings. But that's not very likely. Put a scanner on it and check the MAP readings.
All the GM 1bar MAP sensors are interchangeable.

Re: MAP Sensor
I would expect a DTC 106 set and the SES light on IF the MAP were the case. However, as Fred indicated, it's near impossible to put a liquid in the intake some distance away from the MAP and have it travel back against a vacuum.
Do you still have CATs? Maybe partially clogged after the Seafoam thing????
Another thing. Seen a lot of over oiled cotton filters contaminating the MAF. Although I don't think the screen removal is your problem, removing the screen from the MAF does more harm than good. The screen straightens the flow of air so it can be "monitored" more accurately by removing any swirling. Removing the screen does nothing for performance.
Last, what's the possibility that the problem actually occured after the new OPTI install? Like a crossed wire? Was it a long time between opti and Seafoam?
Maybe you could try putting an inductive timing light on the plug wires to see if you can visually detect a misfiring plug.
Wonder if there is any way the Seafoam vapors are being recirculated through the EGR system and perhaps causing the "crud" (for lack of a better term) to come loose and stick the egr??? But you would probably get a code for that too?
Just some thoughts.

Re: MAP Sensor
it was about a week after the new opti, and the car was running great besides the slight miss because of some fouled plugs (finally replaced). the reason i think its the map sensor is because when i opened the throttle body there was an oily residue all around it (not dry), and also when i looked in the factory service manual the map sensor is number one on the list.
Re: MAP Sensor
the map sensor is number one on the list.
You really aren't going to get a lot of meaningful responses to these posts, since none of them contains all the details of your problem - what problem were you having that led you to think you needed SeaFoam, how did you use the SeaFoam (you've already answered that question in another thread - cold engine, through the brake booster line), how the SeaFoam reacted, and exactly what the problem is now that you've used the SeaFoam. You are scattering multiple posts that really deal with the same problem.... dosing your engine with SeaFoam, and then having some sort of problem which I haven't seen fully described yet in the posts I've read. Makes it almost impossible for people to help you.
Just trying to help you understand what you need to do to get some answers.
Re: MAP Sensor
i scattered multiple posts because i narrowed down the problem a lil while after. The map sensor is number one (after visual checks and scanning) in the service manual. I believe the car is bogging even though it says there is a miss because i had a miss for about 1.5 years and the way the engine is acting now is different than when i had the miss.
Re: MAP Sensor
OK.... I'll try this one more time..... #1 for WHAT PROBLEM?
You've posted 6 different threads about the same problem in 3 days. Every time someone offers a suggestion, you tell them why they are wrong, and come up with some new theory, which you use to start a new thread.
People trying to help you need the FULL story... what happened, what were the symptoms, what have others suggested, what have you ruled out, etc.? They can't see this when you post 6 different threads.
I told you why you aren't going to get answers, and you've told me why I'm wrong - the way you seem to respond to most suggestiopns. I'm trying to help you here, based on my experience working this forum for nearly 7 years now, and having managed to help hundreds of people with complex problems.
Good luck.... you're going to need it with this approach, but just MHO.
