Map Sensor
OK...I did a search and came up short...I keep on getting the code for map sensor...34...I think it is high map...I have changed it once before and it keeps coming back...I dont know why it keeps coming back but everytime it is on,at idle the car wants to die when I roll up to a stop light/sign...the idles drops to like 500 then comes back up after a few seconds...I have a cc306 cam. lifters and rockers...the cam has a 112 LSA...I also had these problems when I had the hot cam and the 230/236 cam on a ll0 LSA...it has new plugs and wires...what can I do to fix it?
car is a 96 TA but has the OBDI comp conversion.
thanks

DTC 34 is MAP sensor, low voltage, high vacuum (which = low MAP). With a cam, you shouldn't see MAP low enough to set the code.
Did you check the harness connector? Mine crumbled and broke and gave me erratic readings. You really need accurate MAP, since the timing and fuel corrections are all based on MAP.

Check it with a scan tool to see if the MAP sensor is operating properly. If you need to check the wiring, you should be getting 5v from the pcm on the gray wire, ground on the black wire and varying voltage from the sensor to the pcm on the lt green wire (~1.1v-4.7v).
I have a scanmaster and I watch it with that...my friends has a 95 camaro same mods and we watched his map on his and it was the same as mine...so I dunno if my comp has something wrong or what...I have also changed the connector and that didnt help/

Rob can check me, but I think the diagnostic sets the code if MAP drops below 15kPA (4.5"Hg) for a certain period of time. Obviously, even on a closed throttle decel, you aren't going to see that kind of MAP, specially with a "cam". If replacing the sensor didn't fix it, it would seem to be the wiring. Have you tried shaking the wire and pulling on the harness while the engine is idling, and you are watching the MAP reading?
