How long would it take to take out a passenger side exhaust manifold and what are the things you have to take out? i need some tips and how many volts just to estimate?

Re: manifold exhaust?

I'm sure the level of difficulty will have something to do with the amount of rust that has accumulated. In that case, I would get a good rust penetrant and spray down whatever you are going to have to take off. The manifold is held in by 6 *bolts*, not quite sure where the "volts" comes into play, and the manifold to y-pipe connection is another three bolts. You will need some extensions and maybe swivels for the y-pipe connection bolts and removal of the starter and alternator will help with bolt access to the manifold. Definitely spray down the bolts though, they are very easy to snap off into the head.

PB Blaster is a better choice.

Re: manifold exhaust?

Also be prepared to replace all the manifold studs where the ypipe connects because they are going to bust off.

That is definitely a great spot for bolts to break. I however, got lucky and I didn't break a single bolt anywhere during my header install, but then again, I sprayed every bolt three times a day for a solid week with PB Blaster and GM Rust Penetrant. End result, no broken bolts and a total of 2 Cans of PB Blaster and 1 can of GM Rust Penetrant being used.

Sweet and tender will save you some money in broken parts.

Re: manifold exhaust?

I sprayed mine down with PB blaster for 2 days and I had zero problems with my LT header install. I highly reccomend as well that you spray them down alot a few days before you start spinning wrenches.

Re: manifold exhaust?

Definitely hose the bolts down with PB Blaster. I let the bolts sit overnight, then I used a ratchet with a 3' pipe on the end to break the bolts loose. Careful with this though, it's easier to break the bolts off since you don't have a good feel for the amount of torque you're applying to the wrench.
