Man i need help FASSST!
Heres my problem. My two friends each have a ls1 ss. i on the other hand have a 96 z28 stroker with simple bolt ons and stock heads/cam. I want some more power because i feel so pissed that these people have ls1s with less than 50,000 miles on the body and engine while i have 216,000 on the body and the person who i bought the car from claims he put the stroker in 16000 miles ago. If i have a 383 stroker, 2200 shift kit, 373gears, dyno tuned, full exhaust, intake, 58mm TB, where am i at horsepower wise and !how can i improve? PLEASE HELPPP
Your that kid who bought that car from someone who claimed it was a 383, it probably isn't since he had no proof...people always lie about **** like that w/ used cars to people they know don't know any better. 90% chance It's a stock LT1 throw long tubes on. BTW are you saying you lost to a stock LS1 I dont get your post at all....
^ That would suck... I agree, if someone can't prove it's a 383, it probably isn't... Incidently, I can't think of anyone I know who punched out a 383 and left the stock heads and cam on it... So hopefully those are done... Unless as mentioned, it's a stock LT1...
To get reliable hp estimates you'll have to provide info on the heads and cam in particular...

^ Ya that sucker would have to have a cam, and you would be able to tell right off the bat even w/ a hotcam. Sorry man but I'd run back to the seller.
All in all, I would start by proving you have 3.73 its easy to do and there is a calulcator around here which says at Xmph you should be churning X rpm. And if you find out he lied about the 373's its pretty safe to say he lied about everything else.

Other than that, I think the only "easy" way to verify it now that it's in the car might be to drop the oil pan and try to take some measurements on the rods, crank, etc to see if they make sense... There are probably some stampings or markings on the crank to help identify it, but I'm not sure they'd be visible by just dropping the pan...
Best of luck...
^ actually it wasnt him who put the stroker. it was the previous owner. he had a shop in orange and rebuilt the engine with the stroker. i seriously dont know what to do. i paid 7500 for it and seriously dont know if i made the right decision. and i cant sell it either because whos going to buy a car with 216000 miles on it and supposebly have a 383 stroker with 16000 miles with no papers . i dont know guys
