Send it back in to mallory and have them check it. Their tech support is pretty good.

I never had this problem until I installed the box. I have gone over all the wiring countless time to confirm its not the box. All features work when not spraying. Anyone have any suggestion?
Could it be the staging rev limiter? In mode 2 I think, you can set a secondary rev limiter on the box. When 12v is applied to one of the wires (can't remember which, right off hand) it will engage that rev limiter. Could it be that you have that wire hooked up so that it gets 12v when the nitrous is spraying? That would keep the box from revving above that point while spraying.

No thought of that so I raised the secondary rev limiter to 6k temporarily. I think it something in the other ignition components or the fuel pump. I have fairly new plugs and wires. The opti is probably factory and fuel pump is factory. My car has 129k miles so one or the other is probably due.

If it's the factory fuel pump check it out ASAP. I have a thread going in N20 tech right now about my "episode" last weekend. On a 125 shot pulled 94 MPH in the 1/8 but only 109 in the 1/4. Checked my FP today and it hovers around 30 PSI under load. Racetronix pump is going in next week.

Back on topic, I have my mallory box mounted just in front of my left strut tower. I had to move the fuse box and clearance the hood, but it fits and is easily accessible. Pics are in sig.

This thread is really old, but I was using it when thinking of where to mount my box. This is where I ended up putting it:

I'm going to be in a similar situation pretty soon... that was actually where I was thinking of mounting my box.

In terms of viewing the display, its not ideal, but you can still see all the figures. I was actually going to place it in the center console, but was too lazy and didnt want to extend all the wires through the firewall etc.

That location wouldn't work with my SLP CAI. Plus I found that inside the passenger compartment made it easier to adjust as well.

Re: Mallory 685 mounting locations...

yea i am putting mine the glovebox as well within a couple weeks. So you glove box users have no problems with overheating like mentioned throughout the thread for some..

Is the box easy to use? seems like it is.

Re: Mallory 685 mounting locations...

Take it for what its worth, but i think the instructions specifically state that the box should not be put in an enclosed area like the glove box (or was that msd's instructions? not sure). In any case, I didnt want to risk it. Besides, how often are you going to change the settings anyways?

I havent used it extensively yet, but based on my limited experience, the box seems to be very intuitive and user friendly to use.

Does anyone know the exact dimensions of this box by chance?

Pop quiz: Which gets hotter, under your hood, or your glovebox?

I actually change settings quite a bit dialing in when to bring in the spray and the retard.

Exactly what i was thinking, doesnt make sense to me espically on those hot summer days sitting in traffic it will really kill the box under the hood
Worst case get like a vent tube to run some AC into the Glove box.
