Maintence on an LT1, everyone inside?

I want to know EVERYTHING that should be done at regualr intervals and other items that should be checked periodically. My A/C compressor went out which caused the car not to start, its in the shop now. Everyone is giving me **** about my car, about how it is unreliable. Everyone is pressuring me to sell it. It has 98,000 miles, engine runs strong, tranny shifts good. I just don't need anymore problems. If its disabled again, i will never hear the end of it. So what things do I need to do guys?

Check all the fluids regularaly.
Change Engine oil and filter.
ChangeTranny oil.
Change Rearend oil.
Flush your rad.
Change your plugs.
Replace the plug wires.
Change/Clean the air filter.
Lube the nips.
Add fuel injector cleaner.
Add Seafoam if neccesary.

Obviously you don't need to do all these things every year, just as they come up or as your service manual says.

Good Luck!

Well i don't know because i just got my car 3 months ago. I haven't been able to drive it either because of problems with it. But any car is you get is gonna have problems. You just got to learn and live with it. Even brand new cars can have problems with them. I guess it's just your luck. I probably have some of the worst luck with cars. If you know my previous car history. But i gotta live with it. So i say just keep the car and fix what goes wrong with it. Because you say the engine runs strong and the tranny shifts good. Thats the most important part.

Oil/Filter is a given....i use Castrol Syn. Blend 5w-30 and change at every 4k, now FLUSH your tranny and change filter..(filter is cheap, requires some work though to take off pan and refill), gm recommends doing that at 100k(20k under severe use, aka street racing)...rear end need to be flush and additive added at 75k)...you should do these two things for sure....also radiator is always overlooked, its needs to be clean.....flush it and block, use distilled water in summer only...maybe water wetter or something....in winter use 50/50 mix w/gm dexcool only....hope this helps you as it has me....

Also..my car has 86k and i have never had any A/C problems, what steps should i take to maintain my A/C system??????

Everyone wants me to dump my car for a 4-banger. No way. Way to slow and plain.

All normal maintenance items are listed in the owner's manual. It does not matter what kind of car you drive, it still has to be maintained.

If its any help, my mods and best time (on street tires ) is in my sig. All that with 148,000 miles on the odometer, and the only thing replaced so far was a tranny. The LT1 is nothing more than a 1 piece rear main 350 with reverse flow cooling and a few updates. It is very reliable and its not unusual to see them go over 200,000 miles.

here is a better example, my car has 100k, no work done at all, none, except tires and a wheel bearing, yet i maintain it well though, with only those mods in my sigs, i went 13.6 @ 102, w/2.1 60ft......all this is the worst z28 you could get in 96, an auto w/the worst gears.....z28's are awsome
