Mail order tunes on non common combos?

Was wondering how well these guys are and who seems to be the better one for getting it close the first time on a not so common combo? Or, if someone has recieved a mail tune that is running the crane 227 let me know please.

I don't have 500 to drop on a dyno tune right now and need something to help out my motor. I've got ported stock heads and SLP dual cat shorties with stock cats right now.

thanks

Those tuners have done alot of different combos. The Crane 227 is a pretty popular cam. I'm sure they can nail a pretty good tune for you.

I wouldn't recommend a mail order tune on anything more than bolt-ons or a hotcam

you'll be leaving alot on the table

you sure the dyno tune costs 500 or are you just guessing? I got my dyno tune from jeremy formato (one of the best LSx/LTx tuners in the country) for like 350. a pcmforless tune isn't much less than that

Yes, I'm positive about that cost. Seeing as the car is not driven a lot, close is good enough for me.

Where are you located? From the previous mail orders that i've had in the past, I wouldn't do anything, other than a dyno tune. I know its a lot of money, but its worth it.

He's about right on the price for a dyno tune as not to many people still tune LT-1's these days. Here in Houston, there is really only 1-2 tuners that can do it and with the Dyno time you are looking between $550-$600 for a tune. That's why I just went with Bryan at PCMforless as it may not be extremely accurate at WOT but atleast I didn't leave $550 on the table. Just too much for a tune, IMO. Maybe later when I get some more bones to drop on the car.

Question

I'm in the same boat, just completed a hotcam install in my 95 Lt1 with 3:42 gears and pacesetter midtube headers. The car runs okay but can tell I need a tune. Both places that I checked with here in Louisiana wants $550.00 for a dyno tune and to me that is a bit too much.

Who has the best hotcam tune Madz or Pcm4less ?
