Re: Mail order tune for solid roller 383

Thanks guys for the replys.

Injuneer - I am going to have to look into that further, Seems like the best option.

KW - That would be a perfect solution, but the timing is just no good.....

slick - Looks like a really nice setup. Trying to work with what I have right now, but maybe a future purchase.

I feel ya.....sometimes life (and what you have to do) gets in the way of what you want to do.

But after a year of dealing with this.......you may need to find a way to somehow make it work.

Best of luck; hope you get this sorted out!!

Re: Mail order tune for solid roller 383

KW you are right, I spent to much time and money on this build to drive on a bad tune up. I fixed idle issues and very lean areas, but it still could improve. I have to disconnect the battery after each pass or the LTFT adds fuel at WOT.

I believe Bryan is actually closer to me than the trip he will make up to Philly area. I want to say an hour away.. I will contact him and get some more info, I just wont get a Dyno Day discount...

I wired the analog output to the AC pressure switch and the PCM can record feedback now, it's just in pressure, not voltage, or AF - so I have to graph it against what the wide band displays at what pressure. Wasn't a big success today.

I did play with the AF a bit though and found it likes 12.5 more than 12.8 or 12.9 (reported on my display). It also likes more timing advance than 34*.. the last two passes today I bumped it a degree on each, picking up MPH on each. Here is the best 2 out of 6 passes of the day...

DA -200 ft, 2nd pass
34* advance 12.5:1 AFR
1,55 60 ft
7.05 @ 98.71
11.06 @ 122.88

DA +400 ft last pass
36* advance 12.5:1 AFR
1.56 60 ft
7.06 @ 98.75
11.07 @ 123.05

I was happy with the times.. would have like a 10.9 pass Other times were 11.08, 11.08, 11.12, and 11.27. Pretty consistent.. The 60 ft stayed at 1.55 consistently, with some variation due to wheel spin.

At this time I am a little suspension away from my ET goal. Stock shocks and springs need to go at some point. Along with a restall or new converter after I get this dyno tuned.

Anyway thanks for the help guys
