Mahle pistons and n20.

How much n2o do you think the mahle's will handle?

I was thinking of building a little 355 and spraying a 200-300 shot on it. I was also looking at the ross racing pistons part# ros- 90465.

Thanks
Travis

The ringland depth and piston alloy on the Mahles is not the best for a big shot of N2O. I don't know the same things about the Ross piston though.

Make sure you plan to build up the bottom end also for a nitrous shot like that.
On mine I went with 4bolt splayed mains, forged crank and rods.
I had a custom set of Wiseco pistons made with the heavy duty wrist pins.

A 300 shot is a big shot on even a built LT1 so your tune will have to be spot on.

Bret the Ross pistons are rated for 8.5 lbs of boost or a 250 shot per summits website.

Re: Mahle pistons and n20.

A 300 shot will be way down the road if I do it. I'll more than likely be running a 200 shot but I could get wild down the road and up it to a 250 or 300 shot.

I'm in the planning stages right now but what I want is a 355 that runs high 9's on the bottle and low 11's on motor. I'll be modeling my setup after T/A LT1's...

Re: Mahle pistons and n20.

Ok so why the dish pistons and low compression?

I normally just get a shelf piston from Diamond and have them make a change to lower the top ringland down to the proper height for me for the N2O useage.

Re: Mahle pistons and n20.

The ross is a flat top piston with 4cc valve reliefs. If the calculator is right that I used it should be around 10.7:1 with a 1074 gasket and 58cc chamber.

With a zero deck and the same setup it should give around 11.4:1 ?

So with the 1074 Felpro gaskets and a flattop piston, it's better to zero deck it. Cool.

Stock LT1 heads are 54CC,LT4's are 58.

It will be hard to spray 2 seconds off of it.

Gonna be hard to believe just a 175 shot.
