Magnaflow or Hooker Catback

I have a 94 T/A bone stock that i picked up over the summer. My first T/A. I am planing on getting a CAI and exhaust. I was recommended Magnaflow but I am not sure. I heard a clip on hooker catback and I know how it sounds. But I have no Idea how a Magnaflow sounds. After doing a search here I got a page where it showed a 13.8hp gain from the Magnaflow. Does any have any idea how much the hooker catback adds. Any help will be appreciated. Thank you very much.

I dont have a sound clip but I love the way my Magnaflows sound, even before the headers. But I bet almost anything will sound good on our cars. What kind of tip style do you like? Quad tip or Dual Straight (i.e. mag./flowmaster)

Go to the LS1Sounds site... There are a couple of clips of Magnaflow on LT1's there... Here's what the site said about Magnaflow & Hooker... Last two tested on a Mustang.

Magnaflow 284 CFM

Horsepower:
Hooker Aerochamber 372.1 hp/ 330.4 tq
Magnaflow 372.8 hp/ 332.5 tq

Sound:
Hooker Aerochamber, 87db at idle, 94db at 2,000 rpm, 114db at WOT.
Magnaflow, 82db at idle, 91db at 2,000 rpm, 114db at WOT.

Don't forget build quality and materials used - Magnaflow is all stainless with polished tips and muffler, no aluminized anything.

Re: Magnaflow or Hooker Catback

Any ideas of how long the Hooker will last? ...let's say if you live in the southern region of the states without road salt versus up north where cars tend to rust a little more. (so I hear)

How many years use will a person get out of his Hooker?

Re: Magnaflow or Hooker Catback

the magnaflow rocks. it sounds amazing (with cats), flows great, and looks awesome.

the reason the MF flows so well is that immediatly inside the muffler is a baffle that forces 1/2 of the exhaust out the passenger side tailpipe without any kind of muffling. the other 1/2 of the exhaust runs through the muffler and out the driver side.

i just sold the muffler that came on the catback (i've since changed exhaust around). it is over 6yrs old, been on 3 cars...still looks great

Re: Magnaflow or Hooker Catback

If you got the money to buy a Borla you should buy a GMMG or Corsa instead, both sound better IMO. Between Hooker and Magnaflow I like Hooker.

Loudmouth is stainless and sounds INSANE on stock exhaust manifolds.

I am on the fence between hooker and loudmouth...I know I'll like the hooker...I may hate or love the loudmouth...I have no way of knowing until it gets here...I like loud but not insane....just how insane is it?

You can't creep by the cops with a loudmouth can you? It's loud alllllllll the time right?

Re: Magnaflow or Hooker Catback

with the magnaflow you get a nice crisp deep sound...it vibrates my house if i start it and leave it in the garage and come upstairs...but if i go into the garage...its easy on the ears...so its probably the best to creep by the cops
