Question MAGNAFLOW exhaust systems. Comments Fellas...

I was about to get asweet deal ona borla exhaust system but I found a magnaflow exhaust for a nice price as well. How nice are these systems. They say it is made from STAINLESS STEEL and it is 3" mandrel bent. I would have to say that this sounds a lot like a borla. I have been searching around and many exhaust systems are more expensive and made from aluminized steel. Are these magnaflow systems nice? let me know thnaks guys!

they have a VERY NICE tone, at idle it seems like the stock system from inside the car, significantly louder from the outside (right behind the car the pipes make a very powerful sound), when you get on the gas it is music to the ears, not loud and annoying, but not too quiet, and at normal cruising speed on the e-way (70-80) there is very little internal resonance (and in combo with a CAI kit there is a noticable difference in accel)

The quality of the materials impresses me a lot too, the pipes are very reflective as is the muffler itself, u can see ur reflection in it and it has "MAGNAFLOW" stamped out on it

The pipes are 3 1/4" in diameter, sounds big but it looks right

As you can probably tell I do have the cat-back, the reason it is better priced is because they dont have any damn mark ups for the name like borla does

question also, i found the cat-back for around $300 online, what r u seeing it go for?

*** that! just get a hooker muffler for 50$ new from summit, sounds better then all that **** put together. If you want a full cat back then its going to cost less then 300$. I would just change the muffler if you just want sound. Unless you get longtubes, then having a catback is pointless. Many might disagree, but think about it, its common sense. The stock manifold on our cars is very weak, and very restrictive, and having larger pipes after it wont make a big difference. So having headers will make all the difference in the world. If you just want sound then just get a 50$ hooker muffler, if you want a nice exhuast get Jet hot lt headers with x-pipe and 2 bullet dynomax mufflers, for 935$

calm down a bit lateZ28
it is a lot cheaper just to switch mufflers if thats what you want to do and dont plan on getting headers

my rational was: old exhaust is rusting away, might get headers in the future, dont want to buy a new muffler, then end up buying a catback in the future when i get headers, and I dont plan on doing true duals because of the loss of ground clearance

I went with Magnaflow more for the performance factor than the sound, though it does sound great. I think it's one of the top performing cat-backs.

they arnt slash cut, they are flat round, maybe ur thinking of the flowmaster that has about a 30 degree angle cut out of the pipe

new WS6s and SSs have round tips as well

The magnaflow I have seen were slashed as well...is there a newer model out.
At this website they are only $350

I am thinking of getting this system as well, but when I have heard it I've noticed a lot of back pressure causing it to pop a lot. I'm not big on the popping noise

well the magnaflow catback I have doesnt have the slash tips and it is normal because on the tips it does say "magnaflow exhaust" on the top of each tip (kinda etched in there, looks pretty cool)

When I first got the cat back I heard popping noises sometimes, but now I never hear any, just make sure u are using premium gas cause i notice when u drop to midgrade there is a lot of popping

Did you get yours online or from a store. I wonder if you can order different models...it does say that it is a 3.5" ss tip, but why would they say that and put tips that belong on a mustang or on a chevy truck...I know some people like them, but I happen to like the round ss looking tips. So, increasing the octane make you not have popping. When I had my flowcrapper, it never popped. Could there be other reasons?

got it installed at a muffler shop around here, the guy that owns it is a friend of my dad's so parts & labor were like 400

the picture they show on both of those links dont look like the version I have, that might be the LS1 version

http://magnaflow.com/02product/cat-backs/camaro.htm

there is a better look at the tips from magnaflows site, although that is the V-6 version I believe, so the tips have a slight taper but not enough to be called a slash IMO (after looking at mine again id say its about a 10 degree, nothing that looks like a stang)

Umm, I really don't know what to say. So, increasing your horse power by 10 is pointless? I've seen many exhaust system put that number down. And the same goes for putting a cutout on a stock car. Your post makes no sense at all to me. So, you need to have headers on your car to gain any horse power at all. So, since I don't have ported heads, my CAI is pointless too? Well, my heads are not flowing any better than before. Same goes with supercharging on stock heads?

The magnaflow sounds like glasspacks; i mean they dont sound bad when youre driving but it sounds like crap when you rev it at idle. I'm ditching my magnaflow after my headers get put on. GMMG makes a cool looking exhaust, i'm just willing to try anything other then magnaflow. Someone make me a trade
