I have a magnaflow catback on my 96z28 vert and while I am overally pretty pleased with it I am also fairly sure its got an annoying resonance at certain rpms.It seems to be particularly annoying on the highway at around the 60mph mark but seems to go away at 75 mph and also seems to be there when floor it and then back off. I can also get it to do it around town in put it in second gear when cruising around town .I put in 3.42 gears over the stock 2.73 so my particular resonance point might be different than others. I was wondering if anyone else has noticed this on their magnaflow as well.

I am thinking of bullet muffler to maybe stop the resonance. I hear moroso spiral bullet does a good job. I was worried about making it a bit too quiet but also plan on headers and no cats shortly.

 

what other mods do you have done to the car, headers/cats?

 

I have stock manifolds and stock 96 cats.

 

Not sure what you mean, I have a magnaflow with headers and no cats and I can barely hear the damn thing.

 

Hmm possibly mine is more noticeable as have a vert. Soft top would let thru more noise than a hartop,t top car.

I guess may have to try a bullet in there and see if that does the trick.

 

I have a 94 a4 with headers, cat, and magnaflow and the only thing I notice is that when accelerating with the windows down it does resonate a little inside. When the windows are up, it is pretty quite inside.
