Question MAgnaflow/aftermarket Exhaust Install NO cats?? HELP!

I just got my Magnaflow exhaust in the mail the other day and I have been itching to install it. I figured the two bolt flange would be after a pipe that the catalytic converter is connected to but...

I got under there and the exhaust system looks more funky then I thought. Here are my questions...

1. What is that cylindrical thing coming from my drivers side header???

2. It looks as if ther is a split before the cat and there is a pipe going around it as well, the cat pipe and the other pipe split then come back to one. They are also welded together.. So how do you remove the pipe at the flange without losing the cat too???

3. I only paid $270 for my new magna exhuast so should I just have a shop take care of it? How much do you think it would cost me??

Sorry, this is a little off topic, but where did you get your system for 270? Was it off that ebay auction where they have buy it now for 240? I was looking at that auction and wondering if the systems are all new and a good deal with everything there.

Exhaust should cost between 40 and 80 to get a shop to install it.

YES! I got it on ebay for 240 + 30 shipping. 270 shipped to my front door. The package was original magnaflow with all the paper, insulationa and shrink wrap on the system!!! It is an AWESOME deal for a stainless exhaust system* I don't see how it is a direct bolt on without taking off the catalyic converter though. I am either missing somthing or... I just don't know. shoot... Well I think I might have a shop install it.. this way if there are any problems I can go back and then I can go there when I am ready for my headers!
